E-Sports Club

by Nate Kron

Professional E-Sports is the peak of the gaming world, and our very own Trevor Day has a club devoted to following and playing video games around the world. Run by Isaiah Williams, the E-Sports club has signed up over 40 members and has tremendous plans for its future. Walking in on E-Sports Club, it’s not uncommon to hear discussion of games such as Super Smash Bros, Among Us, and Call of Duty, which have monopolized the gaming scene for the past years; and it is clear to see that there are devoted members and people who really respect games in the club. A club member stated, “ I love gaming and being able to have a club devoted to the respect and playing of it. It makes me excited for community time.”

Below is an interview with the E-Sports club leader Isaiah Williams, an 11th grader who has generally loved gaming since he was young.

What are your plans for the future? What would you like to achieve in the coming year?

Last year, I was a member, and Guiv was the leader, and I want to achieve Guiv’s plan, so I want to do some tournaments that the club can enter, and I want to expand the club. I want to make the club fun for people and a place where students can relax and have discussions about their passion.

What games do you want to focus on in the club?

I try to give the club mass appeal, but I will probably end up succumbing to certain games because they are more popular, although I tend to want to like older games and the origin of gaming more.

Are you planning on discussing gaming channels and YouTubers?

Probably not because it is more about the games themselves rather than the communities, but we will talk about it. When it comes to YouTubers, it is hard to decide on who to talk about.

I want to make the club fun for people and a place where students can relax and have discussions about their passion.

What are the club leaders’ projections on how the club is going to go?

The club did not end up how I expected this year, I expected around 25 new people tops, but I want the club to be a fun place no matter how many players are there. We have to adapt to our situation during Corona, and no matter how many players we have, we will always be able to give students a place where they can have fun.

Who is the club advisor?

Mr. Stoll has been the advisor for the whole time the club has been alive, and he used to work at a gaming company, and he is a really nice dude with a great personality and attitude towards the club.

As we can see in that little time I had with Isaiah, the E-Sports club is able to have fun and thrive in a time of unpredictability, showing that our Trevor community will power through.
